Gurukulam is an ancient system of Indian education wherein the sishya (student) resides with the guru (teacher), and is trained using real-life or practical situations.
In the Labour India Gurukulam, we follow the primary values imbibed through the system. Our Gurukulam consists of cottages located at a small distance from the school. The environment
is similar to an ‘Ashram’ but is integrated with all facilities to ensure comfort.
The Labour India Gurukulam has been created to be a home away from home for its students. It is a community in itself, with a variety of students of different ages, coming from different countries and cultures, not found in a family. They get to study, play, eat and sleep together. This system teaches them to be on their own, self-dependent and self-reliant to be successful in their chosen fields.
We believe effective learning is possible through practical ways of teaching. So good study habits are developed which are increasingly important as the child grows older and takes responsibility for his own learning. Learning opportunities are created to meet the needs of the learner and adopted according to the levels of maturity.
In this community, there are several opportunities for the holistic development of students. And the schooling system has been so designed to ensure that every boy or girl in the gurukulam develops the qualities of honesty, loyalty, resourcefulness, integrity, courage, sociability, self-confidence, cooperation, strength of character and leadership skills.
Children need models more than they need critics in building up character and values. Talking to children and encouraging them to converse would help the child to build their diction and vocabulary. Our resident Director provides guidance and counseling to students in various activities.
